GTL and I had a wonderful time in Niagara Falls. FYI… This is going to be a long post… if you don’t feel like reading then come back when you do!
FRIDAY
We got up at 6AM to start our day. We headed to my grandmother’s and she took us to the airport. I don’t think I’ll do Southwest again. Yes their flights are cheap… but I want a seat! GTL and I got to the airport nice and early and still got C-class. Luckily, my home-girl informed me to go sit in line as soon as I get there, so we were able to sit together. The flight lasted only an hour and then we got the rental and headed to the border. The ride or the wait at the border wasn’t too bad. And then our hotel (without traffic) was like 5 minutes from the border.
We stayed at the
Renaissance. We got there about 12PM. The room wasn’t ready yet. They let us know we had until 4PM for them to have the room, but took our phone number to call us just in case it was ready earlier (which it was.)
In the meantime, we went to the casino & walked around. And then went to lunch at Hooters (my first experience.) Their wings are pretty damn good! Then as we were walking around to the other end of the street, the hotel called us to let us know the room was ready. So once we got situated, made our calls to let everyone know we arrived safely, and then cut off the phones… we took a nap!!
When we woke up, we went swimming. It was some bad ass kids in the pool, but it was all good because we were so wrapped up into each other we just ignored them. Then we got in the shower, got dressed and then went to eat dinner at Johnny Rockets. Pretty good burgers (would’ve been better if they left the onions off like I asked them to!) And from there we went to the casino to gamble. And we were there for like an hour and I realized why I love GTL so much… we both hate losing! Especially money!! So we both were like “I’m not feeling this! Let’s be out.” And we never set foot back in the casino again! And I think the main reason we didn’t stay a little longer was because the drinks…. were NOT free!!! What casino does not serve free drinks?!?!?
We went back to the room and took another shower (because we smelled like smoke – you allow nasty ass smoking in your casino, but don’t want to offer free drinks!) Anyways… we got dressed. Went to see some fireworks above the falls...
Then headed to
Rumours Night Club. It was cool. They played top 40 hits all night long. What was hot was that they had TV’s all throughout and they switched from the videos of the songs they played to shots of the crowd on the dance floor. The only bad thing about the club is that they use a machine to make your drinks… oh! And they didn’t have Hennessy =( But back to the machine. The bartender enters the type of drink it is, and the machine dispenses EXACTLY one shot amount into the cup w/ your chaser of choice. As ya’ll know from my previous posts… I drink… a lot… I have a very high tolerance… so after 2 shots of tequila and 3 Courvoisier and cokes… I had a BUZZ… that’s crazy! I should’ve been drunk out of my mind, out on the dance floor w/ the rest of those white chicks… but I wasn’t…. GTL and I sat on the stage that overlooked the dance floor and danced in our seats.
But it was cool until about 1:15 and then they started playing techno and that was our queue to be out!
SATURDAYAugust 19th is our anniversary. So when we woke up, we exchanged gifts. We were both were very happy with what we got. It rained all damn day... but we didn't let it stop us!
We went on a tour of Niagara Falls with
Niagara Adventures. We did a lot with the tour. We went on the “Maid of the Mist” which is a boat ride through the falls. It’s takes you past the American Falls and does a U-turn at the Horseshoe (Canadian) Falls. We got a lot of amazing pictures on this ride. We got a little wet too… but not as wet as those on top of the boat… they were SOAKED!
Then we did lunch at the Tour (I forget the name of it) But it goes up like 600 feet into the air and you get a great view of the falls while you eat.
Then we did some historical Niagara site seeing… learned a lot… Like there were 19 crazy ass motherfuckers purposely jumped over falls – which move at like 60 something miles per hour and the drop is close to like 200 feet and the water is like 60 something feet deep. Of those 19, 14 people survived – all women. All the dudes died. There was a six year old boy that fell off the falls and survived… And then we took a Journey behind the falls. (You probably can’t tell what the hell this is – but it’s the falls up close and personal)
We went to a butterfly conservatory. Butterflies were everywhere. I don’t do bugs… any type of insect or flying creatures. Especially when there are thousands of them flying all around you and coming and landing on you.
So we left there REAL quick! About mid-way through the trip, GTL and I were exhausted!!
We boarded the bus about 10:45AM and returned about 6:20PM – that was a long ass day! So when we got back, we took a nap!
When we woke up, we went to dinner in our hotel on the top floor at the
Rooftop Restaurant. We had a lovely dinner… the food was ok… but just the ambiance and the view and each other made the dinner great. We had a contest… Like a week before we left for the trip, I tried my entire outfit on for dinner and my mother & I confirmed that I looked good. So I called GTL and told him that I’m going to look gorgeous at our anniversary dinner so for him to step his game up! LMAO! Don’t get me wrong, my baby can dress his ass off… I told him that I was just kidding, but he took it to heart because he knows that he’s a well-dressed man. He knows how to dress for the occasion. So he went out and got a really nice outfit…
...but it wasn’t fucking with mine. LOL!!
Just playing… he looked really nice. You can’t tell from the pictures, but his pants is pin-striped with sky blue to match his shirt… and so is his tie. But we were shittin on everyone else in the restaurant! LOL! (“I’m conceded… I gotta reason” – Remy Ma)
After dinner we were going to go to
DragonFly Night Club. But after we made our JT or T-N-J (Jack Daniels, Hennessy & Pepsi - wonderful! by the way) we opted to stay in the room for the evening.
SUNDAY
We slept in as late as we could. And then we got up and headed to Rochester, NY to see GTL’s good buddy from college, Hasaan.
That was a LONG-ASS-RIDE!!! With nothing to see! And it should’ve only taken 90 minutes, but trying to get back in the US took about 45 min (and mind you the border was only 5 minutes away from our hotel!)
We got there and I had 2 glasses of wine and was pretty tipsy! (In my defense - I’m not a big wine drinker, so my tolerance for wine isn’t that high, plus I barely ate breakfast) Hasaan kept trying to get me drunk, but I knew I needed something to eat. So we went to the Olive Garden and just laughed it up! They were going line for line from the movie Talledega Nights… that movie is already funny as hell… Add that to my two glasses of wine and some Sangria…. I was cracking up. Then we went back to Hasaan’s and watch Scary Movie 4. The movie is funny – but either get it on black market or wait for it to come out on DVD… because it wasn’t hilarious… I took a nap during some movie and woke up to watch Nick Cannon’s show – that’s funny as hell. We got back to the hotel about 1AM.
MONDAY
We didn’t want to leave but we knew we had to. We did Hooter’s one more before we left because I really liked their wings. Plus we had a coupon. We went souvenir shopping and then headed back to the airport. Reality hit us when we walked through the airport to check-in. *sigh* Next get-away (planned anyway) is in December… we’ll be headed to Vegas with my family and our friends. Can’t wait!!!!
ONLY NEGATIVE
I know this isn’t true… but this is how we felt…. For Canada to allow people to start drinking at age 18… they sure as hell make it hard for them to do it!!! We didn’t see ONE liquor store while we were there. The bottles of Jack & Hennessy that we had were small bottles that I was able to pack in my suitcase… but when we crossed in Ontario… the lady asked me did I have any alcohol… so I don’t think I was supposed to have it. Again… I like to drink… and so does GTL…. The only time I was drunk the entire trip was when we went to NY and I was done off of some wine! LOL. GTL wasn’t drunk at all…. What a bummer…. That won’t be the case in Vegas though! Cause the casino’s serve you FREE alcohol.
I went to Montreal and Toronto last March, but I was to cheap and lazy to go to Niagra Falls. I'm glad you enjoyed yourself.
